Poker FAQs
Q: What are the most common colors used by casinos
in the United States to differentiate between chip denominations?
A: When it comes to poker chips, white or blue usually mean $1. Pink
= $2.50. Red = $5. Blue = $10. Green = $25. Black = $100. And purple
poker chips usually equal a whopping $500. There are, of course, poker
chips available that are of a value of $1000 as well, and these poker
chips are usually yellow or orange and are of a larger size.
Q: What is the difference between casino tokens
and poker chips?
A: Poker chips are used mainly for table games in casinos. Metal token
coins, on the other hand, are used primarily in slot machines. Both
casino tokens and poker chips are represent actual money. Money is exchanged
for poker chips or token coins at a cashier station, at gaming tables,
or at a slot machine. Neither casino tokens or poker chips have any
value outside of the casino.
Q: What is RFID and how is used in poker chips?
A: RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification. RFID is an automatic
identification method. An RFID tag is small enough that it can be incorporated
into a poker chip. Major casinos may very likely have RFID tags in their
poker chips. Because of these tags, it is much harder for an outside
person to counterfeit the casino’s poker chips. The casino would
easily be able to recognize poker chips that do not have RFID tags.
